BFL Rule Book

Disrespecting our rules is disrespecting Doris. You don’t wanna do that.

At the beginning of the 2013 season, I was told by a league member (Owner A) that another league member (Owner B) asked them to trade all of his good players to Owner B for bad players. The trade-off was that Owner B would split the payout with Owner A if he won the league that year. Owner A declined this deal. I decided to not do anything because Owner A rejected the deal, and it really didn’t have any ramifications on the league. However, I have decided if I ever hear of something like this again, the person who instigates a deal of this kind will be locked out of his team for the remainder season, and if he somehow still makes playoffs, his team will be manually kicked out of the playoffs by me, and I will bench all of his players in the consolation bracket so he cannot win that either. If a deal like this is accepted by both teams, both teams will be locked.

  • Each team will be allotted $100 of ESPN money in the beginning of the season for free agent auctions.

  • When you go to submit a claim for a free agent, you must select an amount you would like to bid on said free agent.

  • The minimum bid is $1.

  • Each morning at 11 a.m., the free agent will be placed on the team who submitted the highest bid for his services.

  • The amount an owner bids on a successful waiver claim will be subtracted from his yearly budget.

  • If there should be a tie for the highest bidder on the specific player, the team with the lower winning percentage will be awarded said player.

  • You will be allotted 40 free agency/waiver adds per season.

  • Free agent auction money can be traded in deals involving players.

  • If a trade like this goes through, one of the trade partners needs to post a message on the league page with all the details of the trade. The other trade partner also needs to comment “I accept this trade” on the league page before the Commissioner can put it through.

  • The trade deadline for the 2022 season: Thursday, November 25th (Thanksgiving) at kickoff of Bills/Lions.

  • Every trade involving a top 10 player at his position automatically goes to a league vote. Any other trade not including a top 10 player at their position may go through automatically. In the event of a league veto vote, there would need to be 8 votes to veto a trade.

  • From the time a trade is accepted, the league has a 12 hour window to have five owners request for a veto vote. This can be done in the groupme. If there is no organized protest, the trade may be upheld after 12 hours. From the time the five votes are placed to begin a veto vote, the league has 12 hours to garner 8 votes. If 8 votes are not registered within that 12 hour period, the trade will be upheld.

  • If a vote is requested and gets five sponsors, I will make a message on the league page and each owner must post a comment to the message with their vote and their reasoning. The reasoning can’t just be “bad trade,” there needs to be substance to the argument. These arguments just need to be a few sentences long, nothing crazy.
